How to Speed Up Internet Connection by Changing the DNS?

If you are having a poor internet connection or if your area is getting weak signal from the internet provider, you can try the following trick to increase speed in your connection.

DNS is one of the important factor which decide the speed of your internet connection. DNS stands for domain name server. This DNS convert your IP address into domain address and vice versa. Every internet connection is having default DNS address. By changing this default address, we add boost to our internet speed. There are few free and open DNS addresses available on the internet.
So in this article, I'm going to show you how to change the default DNS address of your internet provider and experience the extra internet speed from your internet provider without paying a single extra buck.


How to Speed Up Internet

First of all, go to Control Panel and choose 'Network and internet options' as shown below.


Now click on Change adapter settings.


Now choose on the active internet connection > right click on it and select properties as shown below.


After that click on IPv4 and choose properties. Now set the DNS address as shown in the image below.

Preferred DNS server: 208.67.222.222
Alternate DNS server: 208.67.220.220



Finally click on OK button. That's it. You're done. Now you have successfully changed the default DNS to public/ free DNS which gives you extra speed in your internet connection.
